The translation industry is booming; learn how to get on board during this hands-on seminar taught by seasoned industry professionals Eve Bodeux and Corinne McKay. You'll learn how to write a translation-targeted résumé, cover letter and business card, prepare a marketing plan and find and keep well-paying translation clients. Registration is $75 and includes a free copy of Corinne's book "How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator." This seminar is limited to ten participants in order to allow time for individual questions and feedback.
This seminar is based on Eve's standing-room-only session "Marketing for Independent Contractors," presented at the 2007 American Translators Association conference, and Corinne's popular online course "Getting Started as a Freelance Translator," about which one student commented "I honestly don't think I would have been comfortable entering the translation industry had it not been for this course. I feel that I learned everything that I needed to know in order to be successful as a freelance translator."
During the seminar, you'll learn tips and tricks for making your marketing materials stand out, where and how to register your skills online to reach new clients, techniques for creating a web-friendly résumé, and how to communicate effectively by e-mail with potential clients in the U.S. and abroad. In addition, you'll receive templates for preparing a marketing plan and income chart, and learn how to set your translation rates using objective data. Eve and Corinne have both presented sessions at numerous local, regional and national translation conferences, and they promise an entertaining and informative morning packed with advice for freelance translators who want to run their businesses more effectively and more profitably and enjoy going to work!
